The pandemic has made it increasingly complicated for women as they juggle the often overlapping responsibilities of work and home. A small business owner of a business consulting agency and a mother of three kids, Jennifer Hammock was torn between caring for her clients and her family until TMC Community Capital helped her find support.

Jennifer Hammock started DreamChaseHer because she wanted to provide support for aspiring Black women entrepreneurs. According to Forbes, Black women are the fastest-growing segment of entrepreneurs, but their average annual revenues are much lower than their counterparts. This disparity is due largely to a lack of access to resources and support. Jennifer helps Black female business owners build strong networks with like-minded women, attract their ideal clients, and bring their visions to life.

Jennifer runs Dream Chaser Academy, a consulting agency that provides coaching services for aspiring entrepreneurs, authors, and passionate people seeking to make their dreams a reality. Jennifer’s favorite part of her job is helping her clients expand their personal confidence, and she loves playing a part in helping another woman’s dreams come true.

During Covid-19, her biggest challenge has been managing the business while taking care of her children, who are attending school online because of the pandemic. Being a mom of three has left her with little time to be a small business owner.

Traditionally, her business model has been based on in-person events and training. Since Covid-19, she has needed to pivot business operations to provide virtual offerings, and having her children home has been a challenge. She knew she needed some help.

With support from TMC Community Capital’s Small Business Big Heart Grant Program, Jennifer was able to hire a new part-time staff member to help with business operations, allowing her to expand her outreach and services as she takes her business online.
