Decoraciones Alvizar
When predatory lenders threatened to take everything Ines Alvizar had built, she didn’t give up. She found a partner who believed in her.
Ines started out decorating quinceañeras, weddings, and birthdays for friends and family. In 2006, she turned that passion into Decoraciones Alvizar, a San Jose business offering event planning, decoration, lighting, and floral arrangements. But growing the business came with a cost.
Like many entrepreneurs, Ines struggled to find affordable capital and ended up stuck with a high-interest loan, putting her business at risk. That’s when she turned to TMC Community Capital. Through TMC’s microlending program, she received a $10,000 loan to refinance that debt and invest in working capital. With that weight lifted, Ines could get back to doing what she loves.
